When the museum opened in 2011, we commissioned Hobart designer Sonia Heap to create a series of corsets based on artworks from the Mona collection. This corset was inspired by the story of Leda and the Swan, which features in a number of works at Mona by artists such as Fernando Botero and Sidney Nolan. The story narrates the rape of Leda, a mortal woman, by Zeus, who takes the form of a swan.
The corset is made from kid suede, feathers, German coutil and steel boning.
The one corset fits women size 10–12 or men S–M.
