When the museum opened in 2011, we commissioned Hobart designer Sonia Heap to create a series of corsets based on artworks from the Mona collection. This corset was inspired by our mummified cat from Egypt, Late Period to Ptolemaic, c. 664–30 BCE. In ancient Egypt, the goddess Bastet was protector of the phraraoh, and later, of cats.
Women 10–12 (a very tight fit)
